Your tasks:

  • Reviewing and monitoring the safe manning of all vessels, based on minimum safe manning and special manning requirements in relation to age, trade, type and condition of the vessel as well as in compliance with the agreed vessel’s budget;
  • Ensuring that all Seafarers are trained and qualified in full compliance with Company’s, STCW and Flag State requirements;
  • Ensuring that all Seafarers have passed a medical examination performed by a qualified independent medical doctor and obtained a medical certificate before joining a vessel;
  • Conducting crew changes in compliance with the Seafarers’ Employment Agreement;
  • Liaising with the vessel, owners and/or operators suitable date/port of crew change;
  • Arranging and monitoring travel arrangements for Seafarers including visa requirements;
  • Ensuring that Seafarer Employment Agreements are issued in compliance with MLC, Flag State and National requirements;

  • Supervise the on-board operations to achieve Company and international standards for Health and Hygiene in compliance with HACCP, EU-SHIPSAN, US Vessel Sanitation Program, and other applicable rules and regulations;
  • Review COVID-19-related industry guidance and regulations and apply new regulations and programs fleet-wide, as applicable;
  • Schedule, conduct / arrange and document trainings for the entire fleet on applicable port health rules and regulations, and any other job related training, as required;
  • Ensure compliant documentation and maintain records of health & hygiene procedures;
  • Ensure readiness of the fleet for Port Health inspections at any time;
  • Provide technical support in design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of hygiene and sanitation programs;
  • Provide fleet-wide supervision of the Integrated Pest Management plans in cooperation with the respective contractor;
  • Monitor Water Safety procedures for air conditioning, potable water and recreational water facilities;
  • Maintenance and constant monitoring of Outbreak Prevention and Control (Plan);
  • Responsibility to update and maintain all health & hygiene related manuals and procedures;
  • Ensure and control proper procedures for the on-board use of chemicals and maintenance of MSDS;
  • Participate in projects as assigned.
Your profile:
  • An industry-related education (e.g. Public Health);
  • A minimum two years’ work experience in the public health sector, such as disease control, food safety and or water safety;
  • Experiences as Sanitation Officer or Health & Hygiene Officer on board a cruise vessel are of advantage;
  • Profound knowledge of HACCP, US Vessel Sanitation Program, EU-Shipsan and Marpol regulations;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Convincing communication and presentation skills;
  • Capability to work autonomously, but keeping the overall Company goals in mind;

  • Ensuring development, review and compliance with Company Management System in accordance with customers’ requirements, the international and national rules and regulations, CLIA, the ISM-Code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001;
  • Fulfilling role and responsibilities of Designated Person Ashore in accordance with ISM Code;
  • Fulfilling role of primary contact for the team members of the QSHE department, chairing departmental team meetings and reporting to Head of QSHE;
  • Promoting awareness of customers’ requirements throughout the Company and the Company’s fleet;
  • Maintaining and encouraging a robust quality, safety, health and security culture as well as environmental awareness and energy efficiency within the Company’s employees and the fleet;
  • Acting as the Company focal point for all maritime regulatory compliance related issues;
  • Ensuring that the laws and regulations are correctly reflected in the Company Management System by monitoring of regulatory developments relevant for the fleet;
  • Reviewing and monitoring revised and new Company Management System procedures;
  • Initiating, conducting and reviewing incident investigations and root cause analysis in accordance with the requirements of the Company’s Management System;
  • Ensuring third party inspections are timely arranged in accordance with customers’ expectation and issued observations are adequately followed-up;
  • Ensuring that Internal and External Audits are conducted timely;
  • Ensuring that non-conformities, observations and hazardous occurrences are recorded, investigated, evaluated, reviewed and corrected timely,
  • Undertake ad hoc duties as required.

Profile:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an equivalent position within the cruise maritime industry;
  • Advanced training on management systems and management system internal auditing;
  • Practical training for the Role of Designated Person in accordance with IMO Circular MSC-MEPC.7/Circ6 section 5;
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety;
  • A wide knowledge of international rules & regulations and of industry guidelines and practices;
  • Training, experience and skills in incident investigation;
  • Training, experience and skills in risk management;
  • Good leadership, managerial and communication skills as well the ability to work within a team;
  • A willingness to learn and adopt new systems and ideas;
